最近わたしはこの時間（AM3:00過ぎ）になるともう目がほとんど開かなくなってきました。。（生活リズム狂い過ぎてる・・・）
前までは余裕だったんだけどなぁ。。。
YouTubeの動画の編集で目を酷使してるからかな。。

はいっ、ということで、最近オープニングトーク（？）がめっきり減ってしまいましたが、早速今回のWritingについて！
今回のテーマは「Natural Calamity（自然災害）」について！
なかなかヘビーでテンションが上がるものではありませんが、
みなさん防災意識を高める意味でも（？）ぜひぜひトライしてみてください～～。

Part１
1. What do you mean when we say “natural calamity“?
（あなたは「自然災害」というとき何を意味しますか？）
It is a disaster that happens suddenly. For example, earthquakes, volcanoes, hurricanes, typhoons, something like them. We cannot stop it though we can prepare for them when we know the forecast about them.
2. Do you often experience natural calamities in your country?
（あなたの国ではよく自然災害が起きますか？）
Yes, Japan has a lot of earthquakes because it is an island country. These days, it often happens in the Northern part of Japan. Besides, there are many typhoons in summer and winter.
3. What preparations do you do when a natural calamity is fast-approaching?
（自然災害が最初に来た時にあなたはどんな準備しますか？）
I go away to a safe place as quickly as possible. For instance, I go to a place where there is nothing above my head to fall down to me such as a high shelf or an air-conditioner when an earthquake happens. Because something above my head might fall to me because of the shake of it. It is the most serious danger.
4. What do you do when a typhoon comes?
（あなたは台風が来た時に何をしますか？）
We lock all of the doors in our house. We never go outside except for an emergency. Predominantly, public schools get closed for it.
5. What do you and your family do during an earthquake?
（あなたやあなたの家族は地震が起きている間に何をしますか？）
As I wrote in No.3, I escape to a safe place and protect my head with my hands. My mother is a very careful person, so she often goes outside to protect herself. It is a more trustable place to escape. But it is too troublesome to do that for me.
Part２
Describe a disaster you’ve witnessed.
（あなたが目撃した災害について説明してください。）
I witnessed a big tsunami on TV in March 2011. It happened in the East-Northern part and near the sea in Japan because of a substantial earthquake. I was a university student in those days. I lived in my hometown with my family. Fortunately, our region wasn’t influenced by it that much. However, I was flabbergasted when I watched the view of the disaster area on TV. Almost all the TV channels informed the horrible situation in real-time. I couldn’t keep my glance off from the TV screen. I have never seen that awful sight. A tsunami came over and destroyed the area within a half hour. It made the area barren and deserted. It took a long time to recover the region. Besides, there are many people left who have lived in a shelter since the earthquake happened.

1. Do you think it is possible to survive immediately after a disaster?
（あなたは災害のあとに生き残ることができると思いますか？）
Certainly, I think so. We can prepare for it in advance. For instance, we can buy some items for an emergency accident such as a flashlight, a portable battery charger, and bottles of water. It is necessary to put them in a place where we can take it immediately after a disaster.
2. Do you think it would be possible for you and your family to be in contact during the disaster? Or you’re away from each other? Why is this so?
（あなたとあなたの家族は災害の間、連絡がとれると思いますか？もしくは離れ離れになってしまうでしょうか？理由を教えてください。）
I think it is difficult to contact my family during it. Because we cannot send a message unless we have our cellphone with each other and they are available. it can be difficult under that situation. However, I believe we can meet again in an evacuation place such as a public school or a city hall.
3. There is a proverb that says, "Disasters only comes with ignorance." Do you agree?
（こんな格言があります。「災害はすべて無知からくる」あなたはこれに賛成ですか？）
Indeed, I agree with it. We can prevent ourselves from an awful situation if we know what we should do properly. Many measures were established after the Great East Japan Earthquake. The handbooks about how to evacuate and where to do have been distributed to the whole nation. It gives us accurate information.
