はいっ。日付が変わりまして～～～、2020年、あと2日！！！
ひぃぃぃ～～年末～～～。
でも今年は忘年会もないし、年末感あまりないですね。。。
ということで、みなさまいかがお過ごしでしょうか。
わたくし本日、メルカリでスノボ用のゴーグルが売れたので
早速発送してきました！
実は、わたしの今年のテーマが「ミニマリスト」でして。
今年の3月末にフィリピンから帰ってきてから、
家も所有物も人間関係も(?)、不要なものはぜ～～～んぶ処分しました！
なので、晴れて「住所不定無職」になれたんですね～～。笑
いや、笑えない。笑
でも、この生活実はとっても気に入っています！
なんてったって、好きな場所に好きなタイミングで行けるんです！
なので今年は京都に行ったり、石垣島に行ったり、群馬の温泉に行ったり・・・
わたしなりに満足した年になりました。
みなさんはどうでしょうか？
年末の大掃除を利用して、いらないものを思い切って捨てちゃいましょう～！もしくは売っちゃいましょ！

今回のWritingのテーマは「Reading Books（本を読むこと）」です！
みなさん、本をよく読みますか～～？
わたしは最近、毎日寝る前に英語の本を読み始めました！
アガサ・クリスティーの「オリエント急行殺人事件」を読んでいます！

ちなみに今回から新しい試みです！
「Writingの練習をしたいけど、ネタがない。。。」

わたしの書いた内容を日本語でも載せるので、それを英訳してください～！

きっと全くおなじ英訳にはならないと思います。

1. Do you read books? Why or why not?
（あなたは本を読みますか？読みませんか？またそれはなぜですか？）

はい、寝る前に英語の本を読むようになりました。それは、語彙をたくさん増やしたいからです。あと、文章をどうやって組み立てていけばいいのか、というのも勉強になります。小学生の頃は本をたくさん読んでいました。大人になってからも読書を楽しんでいます。だから、それは長年の楽しみになっています。

Yes, I began to read English books before sleeping. It is because I want to gain lots of vocabulary. Also, I can learn how I should construct a sentence properly. I used to read a bunch of books when I was in elementary school. I enjoy reading after growing up as well. So, it has been my pleasure for a long time.
2. When do you think is the best time to read?
（あなたはいつ本を読むのが一番良いと思いますか？）

私の考えでは、寝る前の時間が一番いいと思います。理由は2つあります。第一に、携帯電話から我々を遠ざけることができるからです。寝る前に携帯電話の画面を見ていると、どうしても寝つきが悪くなってしまいます。その時間に本を読むことに慣れれば、それを避けることができます。第二に、私たちは眠りにつきやすいです。わたしはベッドに入ってもすぐに眠りにつくことができません。その時に不快な思いをしています。だから、本を読むことは、その問題を解決するための良い解決策なのです。

In my opinion, the time before sleeping is the best. There are two reasons. Firstly, we can keep ourselves away from our cellphones. Predominantly, watching the screen of a cellphone before sleeping causes bad sleep for us. We can avoid it if we get used to reading a book at that time. Secondly, we can fall asleep easily. I cannot fall asleep soon after entering my bed. I feel uncomfortable at that time. So, reading a book is a good solution to the problem.
3. Is reading books still a popular hobby in your country?

いいえ、わたしはそう思いません。今は本じゃなくて漫画をよく読む人が多いです。それに、インターネットが普及してからは本をあまり読まなくなりました。それは、本を読まなくてもそこから多くの情報を得ることができるからです。それが人が本を読まなくなった理由の一つだと思います。

No, I don’t think so. Nowadays, people read comic books a lot, not books. Besides, people don’t read books so much after the Internet has spread. It is because we can gain a lot of information from it without books. I believe it is one of the reasons why people began not to do it.
4. Who is the most famous writer from your country? Have you read any of his/her books?
（あなたの国で最も人気のある作家は誰ですか？あなたはその作家の本を読んだことがありますか？）

東野圭吾は日本で最も有名な作家です。彼はサスペンス小説を書きます。その多くが映画化されています。日本ではいつも大ヒットしています。彼の書いた本を何冊か読んだことがあります。結末を知った後はいつもショックを受けます。とても面白いです。

Keigo Higashino is the most famous writer in Japan. He writes suspense stories. Many of them have converted to movies. They always become blockbusters in Japan. I read some books that he wrote. I always get shocked after knowing the ending. They are very exciting.
5. Why do you think he is popular?

彼の小説は人々を物語の中に引き込むからです。誰も結末を予測できません。それはとてもスリルがあります。また、物語は時々複雑なことがありますが、文章が読みやすいです。

Because his novel makes people into the story. Nobody can expect the end of it. It is so thrilling. Besides, his writing is easy to read though the story is sometimes complicated.
Part２
Describe the book that you have read just recently.

タイトルは「オリエント急行の殺人事件」です。作者はアガサ・クリスティ。読み終えるのに1ヶ月以上かかりました。私は読むのが遅いんです。いつも寝る前に読んでいます。といっても、1日に読むのは1章だけです。この本には30以上の章がありました。なので、読み終えるには1ヶ月以上必要です。結末は衝撃的でした。オリエント急行には15人ほどの乗客が乗っていた。その乗客の一人に残酷な殺人事件を起こした男がいた。そして、その男は車内で何者かに殺された。大雪が降ったので、誰もその電車に乗ったり降りたりはできなかった。つまり、その中に殺人犯がいるということだ。有名な刑事も乗客の一人として乗っていた。彼は犯人を見つけようとした。最終的に、乗客全員が殺人犯だということを突き止めた。それを予想外でした。。だから本当にびっくりしました。この著者の別の本を読んだことがあります。それもサスペンスでした。残念なことに、私は同様に殺人者を予想することができませんでした。最近、この作家の本にハマっています。

Its title is "the Murder on The Orient Express". The author is Agatha Christie. It took more than a month to finish reading it. I’m a slow reader. I always read the book before sleeping. However, I read only one chapter a day. There were more than thirty chapters in this book. So, I need a month and more to finish it. The ending was shocking. There were about fifteen passengers in the Orient Express. There was the man who is responsible for a cruel murder as one of the passengers. Then, he was killed by someone on the train. It snowed heavily so nobody could get in and get off it. It means there is a killer in it. A famous detective was also in it as a passenger. He tried to find a criminal. Eventually, he figured out that all of the passengers are murders. I couldn’t expect it. So, I was really surprised. I have read another book by this author. It was also suspense. Unfortunately, I couldn’t predict the murderer as well. I am into the books of the author these days.

1. Do you think that stories from the books are way much better than the stories on movies? Why or why not?

はい、そう思います。映画のストーリーは省略される傾向にあります。だから、たまにわたしは混乱します。時々、映画を見てから原作を読むこともあります。物語の詳細がわかるからです。それは映画よりもわかりやすいです。

Yes, I believe so. The stories on movies are prone to be abbreviated. So, I sometimes get confused. I sometimes read the original book after watching a movie. I can know the detail of the story. It is easier to understand than the movie.
2. Do you think that the internet and television will eventually make books obsolete.
（あなたはインターネットやテレビが最終的に本を廃れさせると思いますか？）

はい、残念ながらこれには同感です。今は多くの本が電子化されています。電子書籍のデータをたくさん含んでいる端末で本を読むことができるようになりました。一般的には、重い本を持ち運ぶ必要がないので、わたしたちは紙の本よりもそれを好む傾向があります。また、自由に読みたいものを選ぶことができます。それはとても便利だということはわかるのですが、私はそれよりも紙の本の方が好きです。

Yes, sadly, I agree with this. Nowadays, many books have converted to be electronic. We can read books on a device that includes a lot of the data of books electronically. Generally speaking, we tend to like it more than a paper book since we don’t need to carry a heavy book. Besides, we can choose whatever we want to read freedom. I know it is very convenient, but I prefer a paper book to it.
3. There is a proverb that says, "Books are a uniquely portable magic " Do you agree?
（このような格言があります。「本とは特有の方法で魔法を携帯するようなものだ」あなたはこれに賛成ですか？）

はい、これには私も同感です。物語にのめり込んでいるうちに、ストレスや悲しいことを忘れることができます。それに、本は私たちにたくさんの経験を与えてくれます。例えば、本を読んでいると、その場所にいるかのように美しい景色を見ることができます。また、本を読んでいる間、自分が主人公になったような気分になることもできます。それはつまり、別の惑星に行ったり、大金を手に入れたり、殺人事件を解決したりということができるということです。これは私たちの想像力ですが、魔法と言っても過言ではありません。

Yes, I agree with this. I can forget something stressful or sad since I get into the story. Besides, books give us a lot of experiences. For example, we can see a beautiful view from a book as if we were in the place. Also, we can feel as if we became the main character while reading a book. It means we can go to another planet, get a lot of money or resolve a murder, etc. It is our imagination, but it can be called magic.
